Since 1979, Eustis Body Shop has been proudly serving communities across Nebraska, growing from a single location in Eustis to multiple locations statewide. Over the decades, we’ve become more than just a repair shop — we’re part of the communities we serve. This blog series spotlights those communities, the people, and the places that have supported us throughout our journey. Today, we turn our focus to the heart of Central Nebraska: Grand Island.
A Legacy of Collision Expertise: From Green’s to Eustis
When Eustis Body Shop purchased the Grand Island location in 1991, we inherited a deep and specialized history. The building had been home to Green’s Body Shop since the 1940s. Green’s was renowned for its heavy-duty work, specializing in frame repair for many other area body shops—so much so that the shop was equipped with three frame machines. They were also experts in painting large vehicles, utilizing two large paint booths designed to accommodate semi-trucks and other big projects.
When we took over, we honored that history while pivoting the focus to meet the needs of today’s drivers. We transitioned our specialty toward the cars and pickup trucks that keep the community moving.
State-of-the-Art Technology for Factory-Spec Repairs
The Grand Island shop has undergone significant modernization to ensure we are returning every vehicle to factory specifications. This commitment to precision includes key technological upgrades:
Modern Paint Booths: We now utilize two down-draft bake booths specifically designed to use advanced, environmentally friendly water-based paint systems, ensuring a perfect, lasting finish.
Precision Frame Repair: Our frame repair capabilities are now handled by a single, state-of-the-art frame machine equipped with an electronic measuring system, providing unparalleled accuracy in structural diagnostics and repairs.
Advanced Welding: The shop is equipped with factory-recommended welders, including specialized spot welders, aluminum welders, silicon bronze welders, and steel welders, ensuring we can handle the complex materials used in modern vehicles.
Less Invasive Repair: We utilize a glue pull system for dent removal. This innovative method is less invasive than conventional techniques, keeping the factory finish and protective undercoating intact.
Our Grand Island Team: Led by Experience and Dedicated to Mentoring
Our long-term success in Grand Island is defined by our people, and no one embodies this more than our manager, Doug Miotke.
Doug was a young body technician when we first took over the shop in 1991. Today, he is a seasoned manager who ensures every vehicle is repaired back to factory specs efficiently and quickly. Doug and his team are deeply committed to building the future of the auto body industry. They have worked hard to recruit young technicians from Central Community College in Hastings, and every year, Eustis Body Shop actively participates in career fairs and other activities to bridge the gap between education and the industry.
